FAQ

1) How does this Work/What should I expect?
After your drive through Poolesville, you will be parked in a huge Hay Field. Look for and walk towards the ticket/waiver lines where you will pay, sign your life away, and/or turn in your prepaid tickets. At this point you will receive a #'ed sticker, and walk to the Front Circle and wait until your # is called. There is much to do while you wait for your #, or you can enjoy an amazing bon-fire.
2) Is there a long line for the MHF?
We tried to do away with lines and create a comfortable waiting area, with music and live entertainment. On the last couple of Fridays and Saturdays you may be waiting for at least an hour.
3) How Long is the trail?
There are 2 trails, each with 13 scenes and each are around 20 minutes.
4) What else is there to do?
Haunted Hayrides, Haunted Bus, Zip-Lines, Giant Swings, Ghost Hunts, Fortune Tellers, Death Jumps, and MORE - including Food!
5) What if it rains?
We will post on our website and phone number that we are closed for that night by 4:00pm. It may be raining where you are and not in Poolesville, so give us a call.
6) What if it rains, and I purchased a ticket online?
If we close due to rain, then we will open your ticket for use on another night. If you do not come because of rain and we are open.... consider it a donation!
7) What is the suggested Age?
We get all ages coming through. Some adults cry and some kids just laugh it up. We do feel that the trail can be scary and to use some common sense about whether you or your children are up for the trail. It is intended to terrify.
8) Do the Trails change year to year?
Every year we make some changes, tweak some existing scenes and add a few surprises. This is all top secret so we can't mention specifics here, come check out what's new this year.
9) Is this worth my Time & Money?
We believe that there is no other Haunt in the area that comes close to offering the screams, the atmosphere, and overall experience. The reason there are so many other "Haunted Woods" is because we have created the ultimate October event. Seeing is believing - you've got to check this one out!

DIRECTIONS

Markoffs Haunted Forest is located at the Calleva Farm: 19120 Martinsburg Rd. Dickerson, MD 20842 (just past the Town of Poolesville).

Beware of Speed Cameras going into and out of the Town of Poolesville.

*When coming from Germantown-Rockville area, we suggest using Whites Ferry Road through the Town of Poolesville.

**When coming form Virginia - you have many options, but if using Whites Ferry, be aware of times and know alternate routes via 495 or Point of Rocks.

Many have inquired as to whether or not the Haunted Trail on Seneca Road is part of Markoff's Haunted Forest. Although this was our original location, it is in NO WAY affiliated with the MHF or Calleva.

INFORMATION

There is only one!
Markoffs is Maryland's original and greatest Halloween event. There is so much going on that you're sure to soil yourself! Choose from 2 terrifying trails and while you wait, indulge in a dozen other spine tingling events from zip-lines to ghost hunts. The Markoffs have been freaking patrons out for the past 17 years, and every year it gets a little crazier! Don't be a chicken, come walk through our woods.

• Wear warm clothes (hat and jacket)
• Wear shoes suitable for hiking through woods.

ENCHANTED FOREST

Introducing the Enchanted Forest, a benefit for Calleva's Equestrian Education Program. The creators of Markoff's Haunted Forest and Calleva's Equestrian Education team present a magical, whimsical performance recommended for children aged 8 years and younger.

About Calleva's Enchanted Forest:
In the tradition of excellence established by Markoff's Haunted Forest, Calleva presents a true delight for all ages: a beautiful interactive stroll through the fairytale scenes that have captivated and charmed multiple generations of children. The Enchanted Forest will engage all of your senses in a fantastic, mystical adventure. Children walk a well-lit path in the woods of Calleva Farm, meandering from scene to scene where they'll meet storybook characters straight out of our favorite fairy tales. You'll fish with Hiawatha, cast a spell with the friendly witch, and enter a beautiful fairytale castle. At the conclusion of the trail, each child will receive their very own pumpkin to keep. Become a part of the legends!

The Enchanted Forest is also located at the Calleva Farm, but this is a NON-SCARY experience.

WAIVER

All patrons must sign and turn in a completed waiver at the ticket booth in order to enter the forest. The Haunted Forest is dangerous, and patrons may be physically and emotionally harmed - consider yourselves warned! The MHF also uses many types of Strobes, and Strobe lighting. If you are purchasing your tickets on-line, your ticket will include a waiver.
